1985 Mini Moke to be restored using a brand new MOKE bodyshell to show condition.

We have just started building the car this week since it just arrived from the paintshop, see pic below.

1985 Mini Moke; rare version handbuild using a brand new bodyshell in beautiful Buckingham Blue metallic with a tan interior with dark blue piping, rubber mats, colour coded bumpers, and big 13 inch Minilite alloy wheels. This car has the latest Moke style rollcage and a brand new mohair fabric soft top in Dark Blue complete with 4 zip in doors. Mokes were made from 1964 - 1993; first in England, then Australia, and finally in Portugal.

This car has brand new disk brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear, new adjustable suspension all round, new brake pipes and hoses, new powdercoated subframes, new lights, new wiring, new steering column and switches, all new cad plated nuts and bolts used throughout the build, low mileage 1000 cc 4 cylinder engine with large bore exhaust.

The drivetrain for these cars is identical to that of the Mini. The 1000cc four cylinder starts right up and settles into a smooth idle. Pulls nicely through the rev range and is surprisingly peppy due to its light weight (only 1200 pounds). There are no mechanical issues; no smoke, no leaks, no noises; and runs nicely on regular gas. The four speed manual transmission shifts perfectly and relaxed cruising of 55-60 with a top speed of 73 mph is quickly achieved. However, most enjoyment is in 35-45 mph puttering along. Brand new interior with high-back bucket seats for four adults and plenty of leg room for rear seat passengers. 100% street legal; everything works correctly; the lights, turn signals, wipers, heater; speedometer, all instruments, and the folding windshield & removable convertible top add to the fun factor. The heater and zip-in side curtains are nice when the evening turns cold and the locking storage bins add to security. Lots of fun to drive.
